WEBINAR | Shift to the Mechanics: Distensibility as a Predictor for Ascending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Failure

14.10.2024

As part of the AneurysmTool project, coordinated by Prof. José Xavier, a faculty member of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DEMI) at NOVA FCT, an online seminar will be held featuring Prof. Nele Famaey, a Mechanical Engineering specialist from KU Leuven, Belgium.

The event, scheduled for October 16, 2024, at 2:00 PM (Lisbon time), will focus on the topic “Distensibility as a Rupture Criterion in Ascending Thoracic Aorta Aneurysms,” offering an innovative perspective on Mechanical Engineering applied to medicine.

This seminar is part of the activities of the project funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology(FCT) DOI: 10.54499/PTDC/EMD-EMD/1230/2021 and aims to share significant advances in scientific research and methods for predicting the risk of aneurysm rupture, a serious condition affecting cardiovascular health.

The session is integrated into the research activities of UNIDEMI and aims to complement education in Mechanical Engineering and related fields, offering participants a unique opportunity to gain scientific insights from a renowned international expert.
