On December 11th, the NOVA FCT paid tribute to Professor Virgílio Cruz Machado. A former Dean of the Faculty, he also served as Director of UNIDEMI from 2008 to 2018. The ceremony took place in the Hall of Acts of Building IV, where his portrait, painted by Portuguese artist Carlos Possolo, was officially unveiled.
A Full Professor at DEMI, Professor Virgílio Cruz Machado is internationally recognized for his contributions to the fields of production systems, industrial management, and innovation strategies. He also conceived and coordinated the NOVA FCT Entrepreneurship program, which impacts approximately 1,000 students every year.
His portrait was added to the gallery of former deans of the Faculty, a space that honors the history and individuals who have shaped the Faculty evolution. Carlos Possolo artwork captures the essence of Professor Machado, symbolizing not only his professional journey but also his impact on the academic community.
The ceremony was attended by Professor José Júlio Alferes, the current Dean of NOVA FCT, as well as faculty members, students, and staff, who shared words of appreciation and admiration for his work. The event highlighted the enduring legacy of Professor Virgílio Machado at NOVA FCT, serving as an inspiration for future generations.
