On September 27th, the National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC) in Lisbon hosted another edition of the European Researchers' Night (NEI 2024). Under the theme "Science for All – Inclusion and Sustainability," the event brought together institutions, researchers, and the general public in a celebration of science and knowledge, fostering dialogue about the challenges of the future

UNIDEMI participated with three standout activities, showcasing technological and scientific advances in fields such as mechanical engineering, biomechanics, and advanced manufacturing technologies. The activities, led by UNIDEMI researchers, included:

Computational Medical Exams: A Solution for Treating Aortic Aneurysms?, led by Prof. José Xavier, which demonstrated how computational technology can revolutionize the treatment of serious vascular diseases.

Future Materials in Advanced Manufacturing, presented by Prof. Valdemar Duarte, which focused on new materials that are transforming the manufacturing of components and structures.

Is 3D Metal Printing Sustainable?, conducted by Prof. Radu Godina, discussing the environmental impact of this emerging technology.

The UNIDEMI space attracted a diverse audience, including students, teachers, researchers, and families. The enthusiasm of young participants was especially highlighted, with many actively engaging in the interactive activities.

NEI 2024 continues to be a key event for bringing science closer to society, promoting inclusion and sustainability as pillars of innovation. UNIDEMI expressed gratitude to all participants, with a special mention to the DEMI PhD and Master’s students, who played an active role in organizing the activities, contributing to the success of this unforgettable night.
