This high-level event brought together WHO Europe members to discuss the importance of Risk Communication, Community Engagement, and Infodemic Management (RCCE-IM) in strengthening community resilience and emergency preparedness.
RCCE-IM is a vital scientific approach that empowers communities and individuals to make informed decisions during crises. By integrating health service delivery with information systems, increasing acceptance of protective measures, and fostering community support, RCCE-IM plays a key role in saving lives during emergencies.
The Lumiar Community Preparedness case is a standout example of this approach in action. The initiative features a comprehensive capacity-building curriculum, a networked response system powered by information systems, and realistic scenario exercises, such as those for earthquake preparedness. Recognized as a best practice by the WHO in Europe, the Lumiar Model is expected to inspire similar initiatives across other member states.
