PhD in Industrial Engineering | “Resilience of Information Flow in Port Operations ”

19.11.2024

On November 21, 2024, at 2:30 PM, PhD candidate Carlos Batista from the Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering will present her Thesis Plan Proposal in Meeting Room 4.32, Building VIII.

Entitled Resilience of Information Flow in Port Operations Batista’s thesis addresses resilience in global supply chains, with a specific focus on the context of Portuguese seaports. In light of vulnerabilities highlighted by recent disruptions in supply chains, the research explores how digital transformation, driven by Industry 4.0, can aid in rebuilding more resilient and sustainable chains. The study investigates how to ensure the resilience of informational flows in port operations, particularly in the interaction between ports and their stakeholders in the hinterland.

The thesis is supervised by Prof. Dr. Ana Paula Barroso and Prof. Dr. Tiago Pinho. The event is an opportunity for colleagues and others interested in industrial engineering and sustainable innovation to gain insights into the key aspects of this research and contribute questions and suggestions that may enrich the thesis development.
