The colour graded 3D ceramic printing for dentistry project aimed to develop an innovative use of the Additive Manufacturing (AM) for manufacturing dental reconstructions, introducing, for the first time, the customized 3D colour integration.
Traditional ceramic manufacturing processes often rely on subtractive techniques, which may result in material wastage and limitations in achieving intricate designs. However, additive manufacturing enables precise control over material deposition, creating complex geometries and customised structures.
In the context of dental applications strategy, this approach offers several advantages. Firstly, 3D printing allows for the production of dental prosthetics with enhanced precision and accuracy, addressing the unique anatomical requirements of each patient. By utilising digital design tools and the results of this project, dental professionals can optimise the mechanical properties of ceramic materials to ensure optimal fit, durability, and biocompatibility.
Moreover, the project developed novel ceramic inks formulations tailored for specific dental applications.
