CHyTec – Development of Competences in Hydrogen Technology

This project aims at laying grounds for a high-level engineering service of hydrogen burner development, or of retrofitting to hydrogen, to be offered to combustion equipment manufacturers. It encompasses developing competence in Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations of hydrogen- mixtures flames and laboratory tests and diagnosis of premixed flames for various conditions which are also used for validation of the CFD model. Technology transfer aspects are addressed.

Towards meeting carbon neutrality, high-temperature industries for which electrification is difficult will likely have to shift to hydrogen. In a circular economy, it is best to retrofit existing burners to use hydrogen mixtures.

In order to lay grounds for a high-level engineering service of burner development or retrofitting to combustion equipment manufacturers, this project aims at develop competence in Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations of hydrogen-mixtures flames.

The project includes laboratory tests and diagnosis of premixed flames for various conditions which are also used for validation of the CFD model. Technology transfer aspects are addressed.
